It felt like this day would never come, but we made it!
Tournament season here in the Hoosier State is finally underway and with that, it’s time to start shining a spotlight on our top-performing anglers each week.
Of course, spring tournaments and March Madness always seem to bring back the cold for one last kick in the teeth, only because we are trying to come out of hibernation and rid ourselves of cabin fever.
Well, that was no exception this year as a major cold air mass hit the midwest right as the anglers hit the water this week. However, two anglers were able to not only beat out the competition but also conquer the conditions, putting up a solid 5 fish limit.
Kentucky angler, Chris Hogan, came up to the Hoosier state to steal the show on Blue Grass in the GRBY season opener - presented by Bizz Baits. Chris had the only 5 fish limit of the event with a total of 73.50 inches.
Tyler Atwell led from Thursday - Sunday before Chris knocked him off the top spot. But Tyler was still able to hold on to Big Bass Honors with a 20.25” pre-spawn largemouth bass.
Evansville native and GRBY - Blue Grass Tournament Director, Adam Cartwright, rounded out the Top 3 with 57.00”
GRBY’s newest series at Bischoff Reservoir - presented by Blues Baits, also kicked off this week with an impressive turnout of 35 anglers!
Chad Cummings of Batesville, Indiana secured his 1st victory of 2023 landing a 5 fish limit for a total of 68.00 inches, anchored by the Big Bass of the event coming in at 19.50 inches.
In second place was Antoine Hayes, with 63.75 inches and Thomas Forfonski in third, with 59.00 inches.
Congratulations to all the top performers from week one of competition and let's be honest, regardless of the results, if you went out and braved the cold and wind this past week, you're a true die-hard and winner in your own right!
Or maybe just crazy….
